Possibly the most eagerly awaited match of the year occurred on 2nd November, when the U13s took on a motley assortment of dads, older brothers, younger brothers and cousin's dads(!) They say that "age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance", and here was a chance to find out - could the young guns of Bure Park beat the older-but-still-incredibly-handsome dads of Bure Park? The answer was "sort of". Playing for the lads were Tommy, Lochlan , Will , Oscar , Calum , OJ, Aiden , Tom D, and Joe. Making a special appearance for the Blues was Joshua Johnson, former player and now television pundit (he would happily give his opinion, if only a television company would pick up the phone). Playing for the dads were Ian "Manso" Mansley, James "Calamity" Mimpress, Paul "fast-heat" James, Johnny "bounce-bounce" Colquhoun, Matt "just going for a run" Johnson, Henry "chopper" Mimpress, Richard "I'll take a penalty" Holliday, Jez "Johnny's mate", Brad "not Wiggins" Walsh, Mark "Deadly" Dalton and Dave "injured again" Tyrrell. |
