U11 Atletico takes up golf - foot golf that is!

On a beautiful October morning on Saturday 20th October the team took advantage of the half-term break in the league to try its hand at Foot-Golf.  We all met at Magnolia Park Golf Course as the autumn sun was breaking through the early morning mist. The boys were split into three teams and the Dads into two teams - the boys did not want to be embarrassed in front of their Dads or, more to the point, the Dad's did not want to be embarrassed in front of the boys!!
As the morning warmed-up the "golfers" got into their stride.  There were some (well a few!) truly wonderful shots to make up for those that went into the rough - and even the water in some cases!  Irrespective of the final scores, everyone had a great time.  The round was then followed by lunch for the boys - "Al Fresco" in the warm afternoon sun - and "liquid lunch" for the Mums and Dads.  Thanks to Debbie, our Social Secretary for organising the day's fun.

Bure Park Juniors Under 11 Atletico is delighted to announce that it has secured funding from two sponsors – Paul Mitchell and Harcris Cyber Limited.

Paul Mitchell is part of the Salon Success Group which provides products to the hair dressing sector.  Canary Lord, representative of Paul Mitchell and parent of one of the players says, "Paul Mitchell is proud to sponsor Bure Park Juniors U11s and contribute to helping today's youth enjoy sporting activities". The generosity of Paul Mitchell has enabled the team to be provided with a full away / training kit to compliment the match-day kit provided by the club through the player’s annual subscriptions.

Harcris Cyber Limited is an IT Security consultantcy providing ISO27K and Cyber governance, Risk and Compliance services.  Darren Spear, Director of Harcris Cyber                                                          Limited  and parent of two of the players says “Both of my Children have been welcomed                                                          Manager and Coach    as existing players. So far, the season has been a successful one and                                                       that, for me, is down to the open, honest and friendly nature of the club, staff, players and                                                          parents".  The sponsorship funds provided by Harcris Cyber Limited has been used to                                                                  purchase warm winter outer jackets that would not otherwise be possible.

The team is indebted to both sponsors whose support is much appreciated.

Welcome to Bure Park Juniors Under 11 Atletico. Thank you for visiting.

The team was put together for the 2013 – 14 season in the Under 6 age group.  The core of the team has been with us since the team’s inception.  Prior to the start of the current season the team underwent a significant change in terms of the Manager and Head Coach.  The current Manager, Ian Groves, has been associated with the club since 2008 when he set-up the U6 team at the time. Having managed last season’s Bure Park Juniors U14 team to the League and Trophy “double”, he stepped in to manage the U11 team with the assistance of Head Coach, Jonny Cooper, who has been associated with the team for the last season when his son joined the squad.

The Under 11 squad consists of players from Bicester and the surrounding villages – so it is very much a “community team”.  We train on a Tuesday evening at Pingle Field and move to the flood-lit 3G pitch at Whitelands Farm over the winter period.  We are very lucky to be part of Bure Park Juniors – the largest grass-roots club in the Bicester area.  The club has a fantastic infrastructure and gives great support from registration of the team and players, to providing first class training facilities, managing subscription funds and provision of match kit and equipment.

We have an “inclusive” policy such that all players are guaranteed a minimum 50% match play time.  The only qualifying criteria is “work hard and try your best”!  This ensures that all players contribute to the success of the team, whilst giving the Manager and Coach the flexibility to optimise team selection and tactics around the circumstances of each match and driven by a desire to develop each player’s potential and to win.

We play in the Oxford Mail Youth Football League (OMYFL).  Along with the change in Manager and Head Coach, the closed season saw several new players added to the existing core team.  The team has bonded extremely well with all players showing great commitment and enthusiasm – which has been rewarded with the best start to a football season that the team has ever had.  It is our intention to continue this success through the rest of this season – and beyond!
